AboFlah’s team look to rediscover opening-season form as fixtures against Bakhira FC and RA2 offer final route back into contention

RIYADH, OCTOBER 14, 2026 – Qatar representative ABO FC enter the final two Matchdays of Kings League MENA Split 1 knowing that the margin for error has disappeared, with AboFlah’s side seeking a strong finish to revive its hopes of reaching the quarter-finals.
Split 1 kicked off at Cool Arena in Riyadh on September 18 as the first full-length Kings League MENA season, featuring 10 teams representing six countries across the region: Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan and Egypt. Ultra Chmicha, Bakhira FC, DR7, RA2, Rising Peaks, 3BS, Red Zone, Turbo, FWZ and ABO FC have so far contested seven matchdays, producing 35 matches and 338 goals, with only two rounds remaining in the league phase on October 16 and 23 before the knockout stages.
ABO FC began Split 1 in excellent fashion. Their opening match against newcomers Rising Peaks finished 5-5 with the Qatari team going on to win the shootout. AboFlah’s side repeated the feat on Matchday 2 against defending champions DR7 after another draw in normal time. After two rounds, ABO FC were among three teams with a perfect record at the top of the standings.
The picture changed quickly. Defeats against Ultra Chmicha, Turbo, Red Zone and FWZ followed, including a heavy 13-3 Matchday 6 loss to the Kuwaiti league leaders FWZ. Matchday 7 brought a much-improved performance against 3BS, with the contest finishing 4-4 before the Jordanian side eventually prevailed in a shootout. ABO FC now sit bottom of the table, with two wins and five defeats.
ABO FC’s final schedule gives them an immediate opportunity to close the gap on the teams above. On October 16, they face ninth-placed Bakhira FC, another team currently on a 2-5 record. ABO FC then closes the league stage with a match against fifth-placed RA2 on October 23.
With teams from fourth through eighth all currently holding three wins, two victories would bring ABO FC back into the conversation, although results elsewhere and goal difference will also be critical. The top seven will ultimately progress beyond the league stage, with first place advancing directly to the semi-finals and positions two through seven contesting the quarter-finals. The quarter-finals take place on October 26, with the championship-deciding Final Four – consisting of two semi-finals and the final – on October 30.
